About Me

I hold a PhD in Psychology from the University of Liverpool, UK, and I’m passionate about research to understand and support decision-making and teamwork in extreme environments.

I am a social psychologist who supports professionals who work under stress and pressure. This has included the Emergency Services (Police, Fire, and Ambulance Services), the Environment Agency, Healthcare (NHS) and the Nuclear Industry, amongst others.

Drawing on insights from social psychology, my work looks at how to avoid indecision and decision inertia during crises. I also identify ways to improve joint working and interoperability in diverse multi-team systems.

Currently working as a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in the Department of Psychology at University of Liverpool, I have secured over £500K in competitive grant income as Principal Investigator, and collaborated on projects totalling over £3M. I am a national award winner and was named the 2019 Margaret Mead Award Lecturer by the British Science Association to honour my exceptional skills in research and public engagement.

I also conduct private consultancy work, delivering innovative and tailored interactive workshops on decision-making and teamwork in extremes. My sessions have ranged from classroom style teaching through to immersive simulations and can be adapted to your needs.

Outside of work I love being a Mum to two little ones, reading, and running (jogging!).
